The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe : A Classic that All Children Should Read - Book Review
69The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is one of those books that I really couldn't put down as a child. I remember being able to sit down and swallow the book in one seating - all 200 over pages. I was just sucked into the entire story, into the world of Narnia which i couldn't get out of.
This is undoubtedly one of C S Lewis' finest writing. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is part of the series 'The Chronicles of Narnia', where 4 siblings go on an amazing journey to the land of Narnia, where they become kings and queens, where they meet different characters, and where they have to fight for good.
Some Book Covers of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is set in the countryside, where the children are sent off to be safe during the war. Things change when these four siblings decide to engage in a game of hide and seek... and the youngest, Lucy finds herself in a Wardrobe that leads into the magical land of Narnia.
The children embark on an adventurous journey of truth, and they have to fight the evil queen, fight for the animals in Narnia who are counting on them as promised ones from Eve and Adam.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is one book that captured my imagination from the very start. Of all the 7 books (The Silver Chair, Prince Caspian, The Dawn Treader, The Last Battle, The Magician's Nephew, The Horse and His Boy) in Chronicles of Narnia, I feel that the most exciting and fast-moving story is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. In fact, I feel that this is also the easiest read of all 7 installments, as the plot is interesting and easy to pick up where you've left off, and the language used is the simplest and most effective to understand. Some of the others in the installments were a little too draggy and intense for my liking.
When The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe came out as a movie, I had to go watch it too. It was not disappointing at all, and it did make the book come alive in ways that I had not imagined. However, as all movies that are adapted from books - there is nothing like reading the book itself.
I think this book should is a classic that no childhood would be complete without. Giving your child the gift of reading is also one of the most important gifts that you can give him or her to prepare for the future.
