68One of the promises of a new year is the hope and chance to lead a better life, to improve and to prevent making the same mistakes that we made in the past.
Each new year, people make resolutions about all sorts of things that they end up breaking. One of the new year resolutions that I have made is to follow a structured plan to read my Bible daily.
The Bible is God’s word, and reading the Bible is a very important way to get to know God. If you are a Christian, God is the ultimate authority over your life, and one of the way to know and love Him deeper is to read, delve into, and to know His word.
There are many Bible reading plans out there, and I am going to put a link below to several web pages with really good Bible reading plans that suit all kinds of lifestyles and personalities.
These web pages not only have a short description of what the plan is like, but they also explain how to use the plan, and who the plan will best suit.

I recommend this page with my friends who are still searching for a Bible reading plan. There are tons of plans here, each with a special design and purpose that you can choose to explore. See which plan fits your needs and personality!
For example, Grant Horner’s Bible reading plan is really intensive and exciting - as you read 1 chapters from 10 different places in the Bible each day. I took on the challenge this year to adopt Grant Horner’s Bible reading plan as my own plan, and so far it has been a real joy. This plan is the same plan that worship pastor Bob Kauflin also uses. One of the things that Bob Kauflin mentioned on his blog about this plan is that it helps him to realize how much little of God’s word he knows. I really echo this sentiment, as these past few days have made me realize how much deeper and wider I could get into the Bible. Although there are 10 spots in the Bible that you each day, sometimes I find myself reading an extra chapter just because it is so interesting and I am engrossed in the reading that I don’t realize that I have moved onto the chapter for the next day.
I hope I am able to be disciplined and motivated to accomplish this goal for the entire year. Grant Horner’s Bible reading plan is on one end of the spectrum, while the Bible reading plan for Shirkers and Slackers is on the other. Don’t get me wrong, in fact this reading plan is very structured and substantial despite a rather misleading name! I have a friend reading this plan, and it seems to be manageable and helpful for her.
Some Bibles themselves have a Bible reading plan at the back of the Bible, and it can be very helpful to follow that.
Whatever your strategy, I encourage you to read the Bible regularly, for it will give you spiritual nourishment that you need each day.

Great challenge and encouragement for reading through the Bible. Good suggestions. I have an app on my iphone that is also very helpful in providing a daily devotional and plan for reading through the Bible in one year. Although I enjoy reading the "hard copy" on a quiet morning with a cup of coffee or tea. Thanks for writing this hub.

Hey teaches12345, it's so cool how the apps on iphones can help us with the discipline of reading the Bible right, and with memorizing scripture! For this reading plan, I decided to use the hardcopy instead of Bible gateway, so that it'd be easier to keep track of where I was in the Bible. =) Blessings to you!
Hey Skye2day, thank you for dropping by! I found the compilation of links (the right box) really really helpful cause each plan was described there, and some of the pastors would comment on what was good about the plan, and who it would best suit, or why they had chosen it.

I've yet to embark on such a plan. Right now, I'm doing the book of Daniel (precept style)but this would come in handy when I decide to read the Bible in a year. Rated up.
